2015 Charity Hockey Game

Members of the Ridgefield Fire Department are taking on members of the Danbury Fire Department in the 3rd Annual Charity Ice Hockey game on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m. at The Winter Garden Ice Arena, 111 Prospect Ridge Road, Ridgefield. The public is invited to attend and cheer for their favorite firefighter. Admission is free but a $5 donation is suggested.

Proceeds from last year's game went to Brookfield resident Vicky Angelo who suffered spinal cord injuries in a car accident.

The Ridgefield Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1739 Charitable Fund was set up in 2005 to help local families in need. We have helped disabled and terminally ill children, the homebound elderly and others in need. Beneficiaries have included individuals and organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Ridgefield Social Services, the Joshua Foundation, and the Are You OK? program.

The hockey rivalry between Ridgefield FD and Danbury FD has been brewing since the 2013 game when Ridgefield beat Danbury in overtime. "Both teams have been training hard. We head to the rink in the morning after a 24 hour shift at the fire department, sometimes on little to no sleep. We really want to win again this year," said Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Woessner. "Please come out with your family and support our local charitable causes."
