A number of Local 1739 members were recognized at last night's Annual Awards Ceremony for the Ridgefield Fire Department. This awards ceremony highlighted some of the accomplishments of the department during the past two year.
A particular highlight of the program involved two residents of Ridgefield who were assisted by members of Local 1739. These two residents experienced a cardiac event resulting in sudden cardiac arrest. Paramedics and EMTs from Local 1739 responded to their assistance and successfully revived them during the transport to the hospital. The crew members from these two calls were presented Unit Citations from their two former patients.
The following awards were made during the presentation:
FF Grasso, FF Holland, FF Sanders, F Trenck, FF DeAngelo, FF Dachinger - (Award of Merit): For helping to raise over $3000 for the American Lung Association by training for and participating in a Firefighter Stair Climb.
FF Craig Dibble, RVFD - (Award of Merit): For his work assisting in the establishment of the EOC and CERT Team.
Capt. McDevitt, FF Nobes - (Exceptional Duty Award): For their work on the establishment of the Technical Rescue Team.
FF Trenck - (Educational Achievement Award): For completion of a Graduate Degree in Fire Science from the University of New Haven.

Thomas and Rebecca Ahrensfeld - (Civilian Award): For their contributions and support to the Town of Ridgefield.
